WHY:

On first hearing ’Home’ off their album “Up from Below” I knew it was a good’un but was a bit reluctant to feature it mainly because I didn’t think two people should have the right to feel so sickeningly in love with each other and feel the need to tell everyone in the world about it, but thankfully, I got over it as the the whole album seems to have a love-one-another, lets all grow our hair long and dress up like Jesus kind of vibe to it (I later found out that lead singer Ebert left a 12 step programme for addiction to write about a messianic figure called Edward Sharpe who was “sent down to Earth to kinda heal and save mankind”), that kind of crap can usually put me right off stuff so good job I didn’t read that until after.

It’s that time of the year where everybody (and I mean everybody) is pitching in with their preferred songs and artists of 2010. Track In The Box is trying to steer clear of a competitive, hipster countdown.  Our editors have pretty varied tastes, so our picks from 2010 run from hip-hop to folk and everywhere in between. We hope you enjoy and tell us your favourite tracks and records of 2010.

This track is listed in: Folk // Indie // James
