WHERE: London, UK

WHY:

Apologies for the tardiness of today’s Track in the Box but it’s been a very hard decision to choose my favourite album of 2011! There have been some amazing albums out this year, some disappointing ones and some that were half brilliant and half a bit of a let down. I often think albums released in the first half of the year get ignored in these end of year lists but this album, released in February, has been near the top of my most listened to all year.  It’s James Blake’s self titled debut album and it’s beautiful, low fi, intricate and amazing. Best listened to really loud through really good speakers, you need to feel the bass, especially in songs like debut single ‘Limit To Your Love’ as your laptop will not do it justice, promise. If you’ve not listened to the album right the way through, then do it, again and again, it’ll never get old. Crammed full of samples, mostly of Blake himself, strikingly stunning melodies and heavy electronic beats, I think this a modern masterpiece.

This track is listed in: Dance / Electronica // Dubstep // Rhiannon
