WHY: Van Gaalen is a legend; he makes music and animates his own videos and started out selling his homemade discs from the back of his car. His lyrics are trippy, macabre and often flat out weird and the music varies between sparse, folky guitar and electro. Also one track on Soft Airplane is called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Mask, what’s not to love?
