Franz used to play for The Hold Steady, one of my favourite bands, and now plays solo doing a weird kind of punk rock / vaudeville mashup. I took him out on tour around the UK recently, and he’s amazing. He’s tapped into a tradition of pre-rock’n'roll touring musicians, which is fantastic. This is the saddest song about being an artist I have ever heard.

Frank Turner has a troubadorian punk ethos that runs through his own brand of acclaimed, award winning folk music. His new album England Keep My Bones is out on 6th June, and before be headlines Blissfields Festival on 2nd July and hits the main stage at Reading and Leeds Festival in August, he takes the reigns of Track In The Box, opening up his record collection and dusting off some of his favorite anthems.
