Legend and saxophonist Tommy McCook was one of the founding members of The Skatalites.  Born in Cuba via Jamaica he ended up in Miami, Florida where he fell in love with jazz and became a devoted and popular jazz musician.  In 1963 he began recording with the musicians who would make up The Skatalites.  Freedom Sound is a classic example of the great music that McCook and The Skatalites made, he continued to play with The Skatalites and many reggae greats of the 60s and 70s.  McCook sadly died in 1998 but The Skatalites are still going strong and always appear at many festivals throughout the year.  Hope you enjoy this sunny track to groove away your bank holiday Monday!
